Greetings from the representative director

Together with their families, deaf children encounter the language of sign language, which can be understood visually, and foster communication skills through repeated experiences of being able to communicate and understand each other.

With this hope in mind, in June 2017, we started the infant sign language acquisition support project "Komekko" (subsidized by the Nippon Foundation). Komekko is a place for early support that is full of sign language. It has been operated by the Osaka Hearing Impaired Association, a public interest incorporated association, in collaboration with Osaka Prefecture. With your understanding and cooperation, we have been able to continue our activities with the participation of many families. The various encounters we have at Komekko and the smiles on the children's faces are priceless treasures for us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

NPO Komekko (NPO Sign Language Acquisition and Acquisition Support Research Organization) has been established and will take over the activities of "Komekko" from April 1, 2020. From mid-June, Komekko will be based at the Osaka Prefectural Welfare Information and Communication Center, which is scheduled to be completed in Morinomiya.

NPO Komekko will continue to carry out "Komekko" activities in cooperation with Osaka Prefecture and the Osaka Association for the Hearing Impaired. The entire staff, including Komekko supervisor Ms. Yoshiko Kawasaki (chairman of the Osaka Prefecture Sign Language Ordinance Evaluation Committee), will work hard to help the children's minds and language flourish.

As representative director, I am determined to serve to the best of my ability, although I may have limited ability. We look forward to your continued guidance and support.
